Inspired by Paul Gaugin’s ‘Portrait of a Young Woman’ 1896
Gaugin frames a complacent, irregular young woman looking for her next step. I had identified with this young women in the aftermath of University, she is caught in a confusing hectic abstract setting that she cannot control. So she sits, she waits until she connects with something much larger, herself. She radically accepts hat she can’t control and grows past her insecurities.
She is my symbol of self-awareness, a reminder that the joy is in the work.
