‘Love Handles’ is a Lino Print series inspired by all the amazing women in my life, it acts as a triple-entendre, for anatomy, love and of course the metaphor of a jug. Struggling with being objectified, marketed, controlled to be palatable and consumed, these wild, alive women still manage to signify mother nature. I was inspired by ‘Memento Mori’ symbolism, the poetics of life and death and reminders of mortality. The very thing that makes life so beautiful. ‘Love handles’ was an effort to remind women of their power, how their beautifully complex ecosystems and identities continue to fuel all possibilities for future generations.
